Description
Weyermann® Caramunich® Type 1 is a premium German crystal malt produced from high-quality two-row spring barley. Kilned to 30-38° Lovibond, it imparts a deep copper color and a rich, biscuit-like caramel sweetness to the beer. It is essential for traditional German styles like Oktoberfest, Bock, and Amber Lagers, providing enhanced body and foam stability without the burnt character of darker specialty malts.
Brewery Mash Tip: Use Caramunich® Type 1 at 5-10% of the total grist for color and flavor complexity. For a traditional “Münchner” character, mash at 152-154°F. This malt provides excellent unfermentable sugars that help round out the mouthfeel of even the driest lagers and IPAs.
