Description
Simpsons Aromatic Malt is a high-kiln specialty malt designed to impart intense malt aroma and a honey-like sweetness. Kilned up to 20-25° Lovibond, it adds deep golden and copper hues to the beer. It is exceptionally effective at building a complex malt backbone in Belgian Ales, Ambers, and Dark Lagers, where a “biscuit” and “toast” character is desired without the harsh bitterness of roasted grains.
Brewery Recipe Tip: Use Aromatic malt at 5-15% of the total grist to add “punch” to your malt profile. Because it has some diastatic power, it can be mashed with base malts at standard temperatures (150-154°F). It is particularly well-suited for improving the aroma of low-ABV table beers.
